Bout time

Its been a while since I've post but that because that hole marathon thing and me in bad way with muscle tightness.I'm slowly recovering and now just getting back on the bike.Finished building the winter bike last night and took it out for it's first spin this evening.Quickly said fack that and came home. Why? Christmas shoppers dont have time to be safe around cyclist riding at night.. So later or early rides!!

Last night got out with my people for a night ride in Midhurst.Just the right amount of snow covering and the right amount of attacks.Andrew and I split from the group a couple time which was when the most close calls happend but none the less there were still plenty of good battles for the group to see.By the time I'm done with Andrew he's going to be a rock.A dirty rock but a rock non the less.

Might make it out to copeland tomorrow for a group ride.Jacob says theres good scenery this time of year.

Cheers,

Tristan

Forest Gump turned to Terry Fox

Couple good MTB ride in the snowy forest have been down the last week or so.Not too much to report on them other than riding XC in the snow builds more skills than anything else.

Friday Jacob M and myself decided to run our first ever Marathon which we are now calling a Manathon.Jacob made the route and I just showed up late.Turns out he planned the route as if we were riding it and through in loads of solid hills and a beaver fever pond.Things were going solid for the first 25k but once we had to hike the the pond the freezing cold water cooled down our legs pretty good. Two k of that took us about an hour to conquer and made starting running again pretty hard.Non the less we pursued and demolished our non training for it Manathon.

Tried to get out for a ride with Andrew Saturday afternoon but my body only had about 3k of patheticness left in it.Not all a loss however, it helped a lot to loosen up the muscles.

Legs are feeling back to normal so Midhurst MNS it is.

A new Spak

There isnt really a new Matt but Andrew is taking over his role as daily blogger.Someone had to do, Andrew I think you'll do great things with your new role.

Sunday got out for a nice group ride in the Valley with Jer,Tammy,Jacob,Andrew and Peter. The route was an "adventure" so no one but Andrew knew the route and I still dont even after riding it.Solid trails though, groomed and smooth.Peter might have to look back on some tech tuesdays though because his 30lb bike is less reliable than his racing rig and thats not how 30lb bikes role.

Looks like some good weeks to come and looking forward to riding them.Monday night ride tonight in Midhurst.Should be goodly fun.

Cheers,

Tristan

Did you hear those shots?

Been getting in some good rides over the last couple days.Met up with Tammy, Jer and Andrew on sunday for what turned out to be probably the best group ride for a long while. It had all the necessities- great weather, temperature, trails and company. Lots of laughs and just the right amount of Tammy getting lost but not enough of Pete, gotta fix that Pete before you head south...

Tonight was MNS and they seem to be going in they way of "it's not all about the ride but about the entrance as well" so Jacob and I whipped together "the burning car" entrance.

Step 1- what is required is one sheet of plywood, one Paris to Ancaster T, can of super lube, lighter and a bunch of fireworks.

Step 2-Set up the wood,T, and lube out of site and on your vehicles roof and light er up.

Step 3-last step is to drive to the pre arranged meeting spot while shooting fireworks out of your vehicles window.

Solid entrance, thanks to the other cyclist whom warned us there were hunters hunting at night and thanks for the ride!

Andrew, good rough housing tonight. I think we both have a lot of this to do before next season cough

Tristan

feeling ducky

Well because I'm "training" again you get another post.Monday night ride was pretty sweet.Jacob and I drove the Subaru down the fire roads through the forest to meet the rest of the crew at the meeting parking lot.A lot of low hanging branches and trees out there so one bike dismout was required and one more should had have happened. The Giant clipped one branch taking it off the roof racks.Pulled a spoke but nothing serious enough for me not to ride it.

Jacob and I discussed on our travels that since a newb was showing up we should put the hammer down occasionally for initiation. I guess we'll see if he shows up next week.Mark also showed up after weeks of vacationing.Nice to see him again.Watson confessed his love to the 29 inch wheel and even said quote "my 29er saved my life".I like the "new style" of MNS seems theres a lot more rough housing and battles then there use to be.Riding is made fun when there is an element of death.....

Today I got out for a nice soak in oro.Not to exciting another then the near death by line 9 and 15/16th.I've been riding with music lately which has been nice but occasionally you find yourself in sticky situations.I couldn't hear the dogs coming so by the time I noticed them they were already at the yellow line.Really I had two options which was to brake and reduce the chance of being T-boned or pedal to the pavement and ride the gravel.Chose option 2 and took the W.Finished off the ride safe.Good times

Back to the future!

Ya, I'm back.I've been riding on a solid basis so I feel it's time to bore y'all with the details.Knees aren't clicking on day to day use so thats awesome..Just took a solid year!Couple big things in the mix but I'll keep them on the DL till they materialize.I'll give you a taster however and tell you that my main goal set is to domate the fall 8 with fellow non team member Andrew Watson(dont stand me up)..Also The Tour De France(its a long shot but who can blame a man for dreaming). So keep tuned for those who are left following this blog of mine!At least I'm coming back during training season because everyone knows its the only season to read blogs.Especially a blog which put Man Ride on the map.

Keep up peeps, man season is here!

A Post

I've been meaning to post but riding has just seemed like a better thing to do... Canada cup tomorrow so I'll be out there with my single speed in hand.Spak will also be racing with me but unfortunately wont stand a chance. If your around the Hardwood Ski and Bike area come on by at 1:30 and witness the destruction.Hopefully I'll do a race report tomorrow.

Bicyle people should know how...

Yesterday night was the Hardwood Ski and Bike weekly race series so I decided to ride out and save some cash on gas.Arrived in good time and got to show off the new AWI Racing kits.I think Jack is pretty upset about not being on the team.

Jacob and I decided to race serious to lay down a new fastest lap time and put some pain into everyone else.Gun went off and straight into a MTB TT to the first single track. We had maybe 40 seconds by the time we got there so the power stayed.I'm still trying to find my lungs so Jacob got away while I caught my breath.About half way through I found some fitness and road a solid second half.Jacob held the gap to the end finishing with a one minute lead on the previous fastest time.Im not sure where I was but I'm calling it last (AWI Rules).

Ride home was pretty good.Usually Old Barrie RD can be iffy but wasn't bad last night. However there is usually one guy that doesnt know how to pass a cyclist and last night I give that award to the worlds only purple bike shop.So heres a lesson on how to pass a cyclist. If there is no oncoming car (like last night) go in the passing lane.If there is an oncoming car slow down until its safe to pass. It's not hard to be safe and a cyclist should know better.Heck a shop owner should know better especially one that drives a Purple bus.I dont expect sharing the road from non cyclist but from a cyclist and shop owner you better be passing me right.

Tristan

checkin in

Hey Just posted a race report on the AWI site take a gander pleassssse.Other than that Iv just been trying to whip myself back into form.Had a pretty sweet race at Hardwood last week.Tried to race a bicycle with out tires, not a great idea...Kinda like skis with out wax and with out snow.

Tonight the MNS hit up Midhurst for some MOnday night riding which is always pleasant.A lot of Tristan line bashing so I turned it up to 7 and rode with Jacob for the majority of the ride. After the group decided to join us I tried to put Watson into a tree, another tree and then a swamp.Andrew is pretty good and handled his own.

Cheers,

Tristan

Livin

Been getting some good rides in the last couple days and the knees are feeling great!Still not all star perfect but on their way.Basically the best treatment so far has been putting a football (NFL not CFL) between my legs in the squat postion against a wall, squeeze the ball, hold for 20 seconds then rise.I repeat that through out the day when ever I find 20 seconds and it helps strengthen the VMO.There ya go a top tip.

Here are some pics from through out the week.

Long time ago

It's been a while since I hit up the ol' blog so I thought I'd write something up tonight. With University coming to an end my house mate have been slow disappearing, leaving the house to be my cycling castle.I pretty much put a bike in all their rooms and took over the fridge. With them leaving I added a new member to the house, my new Giant Advanced Sl Rabobank or The Rabo for short. It took a couple days to get in to see Andrew Doble for a bike fit but once all said and down it was worth the wait. The Rabo is unlike any previous road bike I've owed, with the ISP, full Dura Ace, C50 deep dish wheels and amazingly good looks it is with out doubt the nicest thing I've put between my legs...The only thing I'm watching out for is the deep dish c50 wheels. When the wind works with you the wheels are stiff and fast but the second the wind becomes furious the wheels soon follow suit.I was out today on the Rabo and down by the lake I was fighting the good fight to keep the bike true.

This past weekend was P2A (Paris to Ancaster) where jacob and I returned for our second year battling the fleet on my parents croozer tandem.Last year we were cursed with many chain issues but blessed with awesome weather. This year was the opposite. It was like mother nature woke up early that morning and said "I'm gonna give ontario swamp weather (new term, meaning: A mix of all weather.example:Like mixing refreshing soda beverages)".With the poopy weather we found our selves doing all of the work when riding with people and when we would break free we would crash and those whom we passed would ride on and leave us were we stood for the pidgins. After the first and only time our chain dropped doing all the work for the sandbaggers became frustrating and the roadie games came into play. When we would have a cross wind, we would ride he shoulder. When guys were in our back draft we would do increases and decreases. There was also smack talk, but I won't go there...

Lazy racers weren't the only thing holding us back. With this super wet spring the farmers fields were still soft and when you put close to 400 punds of man and steel on soft ground you get 400 pounds of man and steel sinking into that farmers field. At times we were riding our easiest gear and throwing down 100 percent effort only to be producing slightly more than a turtles pace. The amount of mud this year also held us back.Last year there were only a couple sections that we had to run, this year if we weren't on pavement or gravel roads we were running. All the little things had us both in a mental slum and it wasn't until the final climb were we finally rid our selves of all that BS and lunch a ginormous attack to show the crowd what two men in florescent ski suits and aero helmets could do with a Trek cruiser tandem. There was screaming and crying and babies being made on the spot, but none of that mattered to us, all we wanted was the finish. And when the finish came, I shot a single arrow into the sky.Glorious. Twas a hard race but a good one, I'm looking forward to the start of a what looks to be a fun season.

Putting my Hardtail back together tomorrow. Gonna be pretty sweet I think, switching up gear ratios and trying a 12,27 cassette. Should be good livin, I'll let y'all know how it goes.

Cheers,

Tristan

On an ending note, here are some classes my brother blew for me. cool beans.

Weekend fun

Got in some pretty decent rides on the weekend, pretty stoked about it.Saturday morning I decided it was time to grab the tandem form my parents farm and bring it into to the shop so Jacob and I can get it tuned for P2A.One of my friends in town wanted to go along for the ride but didn't really know what he was getting himself into. The ride had many first for him such as first time using clipless pedals, first to riding 70k, first time on a bike not from walmart and first time riding a cruiser tandem.

Ride out was alright he just struggled with getting clipped in and out of the pedals.Pace was down as well but I solved that by riding on the shoulder.Once at the farm got the bike ready to roll and took on some water.I told him him the tandem would be faster than the mountain bike he road out on but when we got back on the road and the headwind was blowing us backward I knew I would have to work hard to show him the power of the tandem. For 35k I drilled it, putting 90% to the pedals. He was helping a bit but his pedaling technique was jiving with mine.Got back into town and was completely drained, I might eat breakfast next time...

Today got out for a nice around the lake ride.I like riding around Couchiching a lot, good pavement, good scenery and the roads for the most part are not busy.Only real problem is theres lots of sand this time of year.Good ride though, game me a chance to get a bit of a sun burn..

finding treasure

Browsing the net and found this doesn't look like it's finished but a good start, needs a tad bit more color I think. I'm back at work now so I'm squeezing rides in when ever theres a spot.Other than that just livin the dream.

Panpake ride

Yesterday was the MNS anual Pancake ride, unfortunately Man Ride Productions had to do a hostal take over of said ride due to the lack of manliness within the MNS group.By Pancake Ride morning everyone had spaked out except for Jacob, Liz and myself. So the three of us decided to change the start location from Barrie to Horseshoe Valley and keep the ride alive.

Start time was 9:00am, temperature was -10 and the sun was out in full force. If you dressed right and wore black you were solid gold for the ride.Warmed up climbing out of the valley and continued on our way.Sign sprints on the way out were takin by Liz, Jacob and I couldn't wheel her back in...

Arrived at Shaws Maple Syrup and built up more of an appetite waiting in the 30minute line. Once seated Jacob informed me that men eat the 3 large pancake with 3 sausage meal, since I'm still proving my manliness I was forced to order the same.Food arrives at the table and the waitress tells Jacob and I that no one has finished the number three combo yet.Challenged was excepted and JM and I put our game faces on.Bite after bite we both came closer to food bonking.Last pancake I attacked hard off the start and finished it off.The waitress was impressed but she wanted it all gone, so I picked up my syrup bowl and pounded it back.I was almost a father.Jacob Couldn't finish his but theres always next year.

Starting the ride home was a bit slow going but slowly we got back up to a decent pace.First sign sprint came and Jacob eased pass me pushing me to go for it.I waited and waited and when he turned his head from me to the sign I put the power down. First pedal stroke I blew my chain.legs were flying, I was screaming, cleats were grinding and off towards the ditch I went. Watson spaked out so no one had a tool to fix it.Jacob towed me to his house but didnt have a tool to fix it.So that left Jon, Jacobs dad to drive us to Hardwood to fix her up.Thanks Jon.Got it fixed and headed home under the nice sunny blue skys.Good ride and good times.

Think I might get out this aft.

Haven't you always wanted a monkeey

Headed down to Velocity for their first Brass Monkey ride of the season.Decent showing but I feel like many of the don't ride to much powder. After some picture taking we headed to the rail trail/snowmobile trail, only to find out it was unrideable.Worth a try and worth the laughs that came with the solid attempt. We all said nuff of dat and gunned it for the pavement.A couple sketchy descents, one car passed and a crash (not me,another guy) later and we well on our way for a solid ride.Actually the only thing missing were pancakes, but I guess that day is approaching soon.

Saw a new doc today, stretching is bad and deep tissue massage is the devil. The opposite of the last doc.On the plus side I got some Spydertech....she gave me some pointer so hopefully at least some of her advise was worth the money.

Heading to a game night at JIZ's house (Jacob and Liz like Brangelina but dirty).should be fun, meeting Andrew's "girl".

cheers,

Tristan

The big Bang and southern tails

Sorry for the lack of posting but I've been dedicating all my spare time to catching up on Big Bang Theory.Pretty legit show, I highly recommend.Since I left you last week I've only done a couple blogable activities. Such as…

Monday morning Watson got me up at 3:30am to keep him company on the drive down to JoyRide 150. Breakfast Television was dong a special there so I figure I'd try and get my 15 seconds of fame.Since BT is prime time, I headed to the shop and polished up the single speed. There wasn't enough polish to make that bike good looking so I added a pair of whitewall tires and a white saddle. After the bike was ready I focused on me.Got the legs cleaned up with my new Venus razor (strong enough for men but made for a cyclist) and also washed the kit.Got down to JR150 safe and waited around for the cameras. When they did show up the weather took three slots and the xc portion was reduced. So we created a mini xc loop and road around Watson while he explained what it was like going to the olympics.I got in a couple laps so it was worth it, Havy said he buying Lu Lu Lemon sweater which is pretty huge.

Tuesday I hit the road out Sebright way to pick up some mail.Weather was awesome and roads were tame.Got out there, grabbed the mail and headed out into the head winds of HWY 46. Wasn't long before my first bonk of the year and the cravings of everyone else's dinner.Basically went into survival mode and tried to think of happy thoughts.Good ride though, every day out side is a good day.

Last couple day have been spent in Louisiana which is the true "LA" for some vacation time. Unfortunately like Andrews trip to the south I've had my fair share of rain. We've been staying on a catamaran for the last couple days, which has been some good livin to say the least.Nothing like livin on the open sea with nothing but wind in your hair and fish at your feet.

Tristan

Apparently girls read my blog....

You know who you are....

Im on a rest week this week and by that I mean I've road once with Watson. It was one of those Facebook I'm going for a ride on a such and such day and you should tag along. I'm always down to not ride by my self so I accepted the offer. The details of the ride were simple, Andrew would leave his house at noon and I mine at noon. We would then ride to the 15/16th side road and meet somewhere in the middle and travel Oro.

Ride out was smooth sailing. I ran into some escaped horses but all they wanted to do was ride beside me. No big deal. I met up with Watson shortly after and we it the roads of Oro. Not sure where we went but I could see the lake a lot of the time.Nothing really exciting happened other than Andrews derailleur cable locking up. Pete, maybe a shifting maintenance would be a good Tech Tuesday. Andrew and I departed, I went to hardwood and said my good byes to Ben, I walked out of hardwood and fist pumped to Bens departure and then road home.Good sunny ride. Actually I was told the weather was better than California.

Apparently I'm going to Joy Ride Monday morning at some ungodly hour buy should promise for a day on the bike. Also I'll be driving south on Wednesday for a Louisiana vacation. Apparently they have some bead tossing competition down there. I'm a little worried about the flashing tho, not sure my eyes can handle it.

Cheers,

Tristan

Riding Dirty

Last couple days have been beauty for riding my bi-cycle. In fact so beautiful by the time I get off the bike I'm far too tired to post. So I'll do little catch you up.My week started with a hilly type ride with spak and Jacob leaving from Waubaushene.Spak actually did a pretty good blog post on it and covered everything so I'm not even going to try and compete,I'll just link you his way.(Matt Spak)

My riding continued the following day with a solid ride around lake Couchiching. Sun wasn't out but the temperature was in the positives, which is a positive... Weaving through the city to get out of the city I came to a cross street and there was an SUV stopped at a stop sign.I didn't have a stop sign so I continued on my way. However the SUV I guess either thought I did have a stop sign or he thought he could cross the street before I got there...Didn't matter what he thought because he was wrong. He went, realized he couldn't make it, my brakes went on, his went on, my wheels locked, his locked. I managed to escape death by a couple centimeters making it the first time my turning skills didn't hurt me.The rest of the ride was good, just taking in the fresh warm air and loving riding again.Finished it all off with a loop around the beach trail, no ladies out yet but it's rideable...

Yesterday it was something like plus 5 and sunny with heavy winds.I couldn't really get organized to ride until later in the afternoon. I didn't want to ride at night so instead of a longer type ride I cut it short and spun the legs.Probably for the best because I'm feeling a bit tight today.Road conditions were a bit wet which was a pain.Even with fenders my feet, legs and back were getting soaked. Not fun.

Might go for a run later tonight.Cold temperatures are back and so is the wind, I'll let you know how it goes.

Cheers,

Tristan

Just take a look

K so I have a post to post but I'm going to write it up probably tomorrow...For now I want you all to go over to Peters blog and check out his scoop on knee pain. Apparently you can even see a bit of his mullet, it's a tough spot though. So click here and watch a movie film!

Further more AWI and Jeremy Simmons are in California but you wouldn't know it with their current post count.Come on guys I need warm thoughts here.

It's only a rabbit...

Let's start this post with a little vid just so you folks know what I was up against.(Click Here) K, now that you watched that I'll continue the story. Went for a run tonight because for some odd reason it helps my knees.Don't ask cause I dont know. When I run I'm a pretty focused guy, I hate doing it and I could care less about trying to enjoy it so the general plan of attack when I run is turn my brain off, which oddly enough im pretty good at. The odd time something shiny enough or dangerous enough will a catch my eye and I'll wake up.Tonight was no different and the cause was two racoons and a rabbit. No cougar but scary non the less. Cant trust city wildlife, they not only scrap all night but they think every human has food.Kind of like those people you always see in Toronto on the sewer covers....Anyways, they made a move, then I made a move and the next thing I knew I woke up with a sore bum.I must have slipped on a patch of ice...Finished the run strong, feeling like my fitness is returning. That is my fitness is returning like Frodo and Sam returning the ring to Mordor. Epic at times with a touch of pain and a pinch of enchanted creatures.

Tomorrow I ride but not before some TLC to the Rocky Mantain (made that up now...like?).

Cheers,

Tristan

A post for Pat

Mr Pat you have been added to the blog roll.I expect great things from you.Dont let me down...

Spak stopped blogging, now its my time to shine.

Sweet.K so first on the list Jacob and I did a man warm up last week, not the distance part just the sketchiness part.Went well and plans are being reviewed for the real deal. For more details on the trial click on over to Jacobs blogski. Second to be crossed off this imaginary list, Watson appears to be cracking which in one of my earlier post I predicted. It's almost like I had a Delorean and could predict the future....Nuff of that nerd talk.Third went for a run two nights ago, buried my self so deep in my workout (really trying not to think of the pain associated with running) when I came through I didn't know where I was. That's a first for me.... blame it on the time travel. Finally went for a ride last night in hope to help switch my days back to normal. That failed but I felt pretty good about the ride.Still keeping stuff simple but it seems to be working.

Everyone seems to have gone state side or going state side so Ontario being the fair province that it is decided to warm up for at least a week. Not bad I'd say.Might see me out in bibs and T tomorrow.Look out ladies, cupid is here...

Cheers,

Tristan

Bloody mess

So I was driving past Copeland today and what did I see on the golf course but the elusive cougar and elefant. Unfortunately they battled and only the fit survived.

After I watched the Copeland Elefant get demolished by a small cat I went home for a jog to the gym, followed with a work out at the gym, followed by a run home from the gym.Good times.Little cold on my ear but good non the less.

Cheers,

Tristan.

Posting about a Monday on a Tuesday

Met up with the crew last night for a snowshoe in the forest. The crew was Lizard, Jacob, Andrew (still trying to put as much time in before training camp,he's going to blow up for sure) and myself.Snow was deep and the conversation was pleasant. The only thing missing was Spak,Tammy and Jer.Come to think of it I can't remember the last to I saw Spak....is he still around??has he eloped??Where would a Spak elope to?I'd probably say Victoria Harbour Or Coldwater....Gotta stay within 15 minutes of the motherland. Anyway, Spak if you had a spare moment and are reading this come home to me.Before they made fun of both of us but now it's just me.Your part of my tripod or my dupod because I can't think of a third leg right now.If you dont come home soon, I will fall.

Jer and Tammy...I like your blogging skillZ (Please note the upper case "Z").What I dont like is you not showing up for Andrew's last snowshoe before he departs to the United States of America. How would you feel if his plane crashed and he lands in the ocean but because he is a cyclist his legs weigh more than his upper body, acts like a cement block and he sinks to the bottom of said ocean?I'll tell you how you'd feel, really offal. Or what if while riding his cross country mountain bicycle he came across a poisonous snake which was suddenly stumped by a mountain lion while on route to finish the job started by it's Canadian brother the Cougar. How would you feel then?I'll tell you how I feel.I feel like my mind has been bottled.

Sorry I got off topic with the snowshoe. It was great.I liked it.Ride tomorrow mixed with gym.If you read this far, thank you for reading.I'm beyond sleepy. But blog links will be added to my list in the next couple.

Cheers,

Tristan

Back 40

On Saturday I decided to head out to the parents ranch and do some exploring in the back 40.Loaded up the Subaru with some snowshoes and warm gear then off I went.Iv never really been back in our forest other than on the old logging trail, probably because I'm generally afraid of Beavers,Cougars and bears (oh my).I figured however the loud stomping of the snowshoes and the clumsiness of the walker would scare any threat far away.

Started through the fields, plowing through them like myself plowing through corners on a nice summers day. Constantly looking for animals which could eat me it was hard to enjoy myself at first.Twenty minutes in I decide I could probably kill any animal that dared to attempt an attack, I went even as far as planning how I would kill it.Figured ski pole to the eyeball would pretty much do it to any animal.Moving on.... Once I overcame my silly fear I started to look around and was noticing some sweet potential for trail making.I need to explore more before spring comes and GPS my findings but apparently behind my property line is crown land which then backs on to the Ganaraska trail system. So I have some work ahead of me.Explore some now, then ride the cow trails come spring.Back to the snowshoe....it was great fun and no attacks.

Cheers,

Tristan

Team AWI has perks

I would like to thank owner Andrew Watson of team AWI Racing ("Racing" I think is still floating around the ideas table. Comment if you like it) for providing me with a ticket to watch the epic cycling movie "Chasing Legends". I fully intended to thank him last as well as thanking Hannah for the beer in last nights post but simply was to tired and couldn't type or think any longer. Fortunately I mentioned this in my previous post and also saying "Ill be back". So thanks to all. That includes Lizard and Jacob for feeding me and driving me.Although me being their company for the night is probably thanks enough.

As for training today, I think I might go to the gym for a run/legs/back/core/stretch work out.I'll let you know laters.

Heres the video form yesterday. Warning if you dont like to see huge gentlemen sausages stomped out in snow dont watch this video. But if your not a prood feel free to watch.

Also a pic to try and so you snow depth,

I like new looks.

I liked Andrews blog changes so much I mixed mine up as well.Looks fresh I think.JM and I did a nice little snowshoe this aft which brought us through some deep snow and near avalanches. We discussed a lot of things and stomped down a huge gentleman's sausage in the snow.So big in fact I had to climb a near by tree to get the shot.I might put up the vid tomorrow.

After said snowshoe we headed to Barrie to take in a little film called Chasing Legends.I thought it had Jackie Chan in it but as it turned out the film was about the tour.Very well done, I recommend it to all those who like to enjoy the riding of their bicycle.I just want to ride my Giant TCR Advanced Rabobank now...It was highly featured in the film. It's late Ill be back

Cheers,

Tristan

so happy I could blog

It's been a while but like Andrew says writing about doing the same thing every day is both boring to the reader and the writer.Luckily for you Ive done something different the last couple days. That's right Iv been riding a bike-cycle.

My return to riding started with an early morning night ride.At about 1:30 in the morning on Friday I headed out on my cycle cross training loop. It's fairly flat for the majority of the ride with two bigger hills to finish the ride off.I went out to just to spin out my legs and work on my form.Paying close attention to my legs position and my over all form.It was a good ride other than a dog trying to take me out but that's expected at that early hour.

Joy Ride 150 was next.Andrew sent me a message in the morning saying a trip was going down and that if I wanted to hitch a ride that could be done.I jumped on that idea and told him Id be there in 40 minutes.Almost and hour and half later I pulled into his driveway. With no Watson to be found I knocked on his door, only to find him drinking peppermint tea and watching the stocks.I sat down on Starbucks chair so I guess it was only fair when Starbuck sat on me.Andrew tried to demonstrate who the master is by telling her to get off, but Starbuck had non of that.So we left and headed to the city.We were there for close to three hours and in that time I personally bonked at least twice an hour. Its funny how demanding that place can get, you can go there and legit get a solid day of training in.It can cover all areas I feel. You got your skill, endurance, speed and social.Joy Ride is perfect. Now all they need is to hand out a discount card to everyone with the name Tristan Spurr and they will be the best indoor bike park in the world.

I guess it would be Saturday I sent JM a text asking what his plans were for Sunday but had no reply.I thought to my self "Tristan, if he doesn't want to reply I'll ride out to HWSAB and visit"So thats what I did.Out Old Barrie rd and to HWSAB I rode. It was a little busy but nothing I couldn't handle.I wore a complete black kit because I hear that's like saying F-U car just try and find me.Arrived alive and chatted with the boys for a bit.Ben is chasing all the same lady interest that I am and has pointed out that I don stand a chance aginst him because he owns two cars (one being a sports car with turbo) and lives in a mansion. All I have is an attic and a Subaru (gold in color).I saw his point and right away went into negotiations.I think we've settled on me being allowed to look after his girls while he is down south. So I guess I'm kinda like a nanny...or a pimp, not sure really.

Tomorrow I hear there's a film playing in Barrie about some cycling team racing some race over in France.I think I might attend, not really for the movie... well I just wrote a story so I think I'll go do something athletic to write about tomorrow or the next day or the day after the next day...

Cheers,

Tristan

countdown begins

So I am still not training and I'm not sure when I will be..There has been some light stuff going on but nothing really to do any positive advancements to the old body.I'm booked to see a doctor on tuesday and apparently she is pretty good at fixin people up so I am looking forward to that.I'm getting a little worried I might not be in racing form by the start of the season....at least I will have a nice bike to ride around on...If every thing fails I think I will call it a building year and just work on getting my body to a point where it can hold its self together.Maybe pick and choose some fun races and just simply have some fun. Although I would love to kick some ass too.Time will tell, lets see what the doc says.Hey if someone wants to go to Joy Ride I'd be down. Thanks Andrew on the blog update and congrats on the signing, your a celeb for at least one more year!Peter I had a link to your blog, it was broken but I fixed it!For those who dont read Peters blog heres a pretty cool link staring levi leipheimer. If your interested in different techniques for stretching and stuff take a gander at the blog where it came from.

Cheers,

Tristan
